South Florida has some wonderful diving spots, and one of the best places is known as the Pompano dropoff.  This area has one of the best reefs for snorkeling in South Florida.  The area consists of a large, flat mass of rocks and reefs that stretch from Ft. Lauderdale to the Pompano pier, in depths ranging from about 12' to 30'.  Perfect for snorkeling!

How to get there.

The Reef is located just off of the Pompano Beach water tower, about 3 nautical miles south of the Hillsboro inlet and runs all the way down to  Port Everglades.  The first mooring buoy is about three quarters of a mile  south of the Pompano pier.  There are mooring buoys located all along  the reef.  Just tie off to one of them and set out your dive flag.

When approaching, please slow down and be on the lookout for divers, dive flags and other boats.
