The Jupiter Lighthouse is located in Jupiter Florida and was first lit on July 10, 1860.  George Gordon Meade designed the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse, which is 108 ft tall and sits atop of 48 ft mound, for a total height of 156 ft with 105 steps to the top.  The lighthouse is made of red brick and is built upon a foundation of oyster shells. 

The original keeper's dwelling burned down in 1927 and the current dwelling dates from 1959.

  • The tower was built in 1860 .
  • The light is an active aid to navigation currently operational.
  • The current optic is the original first order Fresnel lens.
  • The focal plane height is 146 ft.
  • The lighthouse was electrified in 1928.
  • The light was automated in 1987.
  • It is the oldest existing structure in Palm Beach County.
  • The Jupiter lighthouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.
  • The lighthouse was restored in 1999 at a cost of $850,000.
  • The lighthouse is open to the public Sunday through Wednesday.
